Lyndell Bryant’s Recovery Story

LifeWorks Rehab helped get him back on the trails.

I’ve been an active member of the Appalachian Trail Club for many years and also spend a great deal of time building and maintaining trails in the area. It’s my favorite thing to do, and there’s nowhere I’d rather be than out on the trails. As a matter of fact, I was out on a trail when I felt my knee give out, and sure enough the doctors confirmed that I was going to need knee replacement surgery unless I wanted my hiking days to be over for good.

I’m 84 years old and at my age any surgery can be serious. Recovery can be tough, too. But I’m pretty tough myself, and my LifeWorks Rehab therapists kept my spirits up and never gave me any doubt that I’d be back on the trails soon. They knew exactly what to do to build my strength. I did what they told me to do, worked hard, and they were right there working hard with me.

The LifeWorks Therapy program is absolutely amazing. Not only do the people really know their stuff, but they also go out of their way to get to know you as a person, too. There’s nothing they wouldn’t do to help me recover. Thanks to the LifeWorks Rehab program, I was able to return home after only 20 days. Best of all, I’m back doing all of the things I used to do: I can drive, I still work maintaining hiking trails, and I walk at least two miles a day.

I think my recovery is nothing short of amazing, and I’m thankful to the staff for getting me back outside and back doing the things I love. I couldn’t have gotten there without their help!
